[caption id="attachment_1679" align="alignleft" width="300"] Fumiko Campbell[/caption] The students were privileged today to  be invited to lunch by friend of the school Fumiko Campbell.  Ms. Fumiko was born and raised in Japan, but came to live here after marrying Arthur Campbell. She has been involved in community service for many years and sits on the board of the Maryland Science Center.  Most of her activities center around St. Agnes Hospital where she once worked and has been a volunteer putting in more than 25,000 hours. After lunch, Fumiko shared her traditional culture with the students showing them various items from Japan.  It was a terrific experience and enthralled the students....

Members of the school community had the opportunity to attend the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson show this evening at the Baltimore Arena. The students had a terrific time and we all thank the organization Tickets for Kids out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for arranging for us to be able to attend the show....

[caption id="attachment_1688" align="alignleft" width="300"] JHU-CSI[/caption] Weekly science labs conducted by the Johns Hopkins University Community School Initiative (CSI) are continuing this semester.  This student group made up of both undergraduate and graduate students has been active for 5 years enhancing the science education at TCS.  Labs include biology, chemistry and physics and are always a highlight of the academic week.  We deeply appreciate their efforts and that of the Center for Social Concern at JHU for their support....

[caption id="attachment_1685" align="alignleft" width="300"] Dhoruba Moore, Paul Coates, and Bob Boyle[/caption] Advisory Board member and decades long supporter of TCS, Paul Coates, visited the school today.  He brought with him two special guests, long time activist Dhoruba Moore and Civil rights attorney Bob Boyle.  They were in town for the long-awaited release of Eddie Conway who had been wrongly imprisoned for over 40 years.  During their visit they took the time to learn about each of the students and their goals for the future as well as sharing some of the history of the Black Panther Party.  We appreciated the time they spent with us on this busy day....

There are a wide variety of name-brand candies each for only $1.  You can help support his sale by purchasing candy from one of the students or directly at the school.  If you would like to support the students by selling this candy, stop by the school to pick up a box of 25 to sell....
