Visit to LaRae Amoor Universe
A feast for the ears, eyes and soul. That’s what today’s field trip to LaRae Amoor Universe was for us at the invitation of founder Antwan Hawkins also known as Greeyo. A cultural oasis blooms in an unassuming building in the 2200 block of Maryland Avenue.
After preliminary greetings where everyone introduced themselves with a twist that included a little known personal “fun fact”, a musical performance ensued. With Cavon on drums, Eric on keyboards and guitar, and Jordan aka Groovy, Kevin aka A.S.E. and Greeyo on vocals we were entertained, educated and inspired on an impromptu musical journey in an intimate performance space.
Joined by fellow studio member and videographer Tyus aka Mr. Visionaries, we then engaged in a Q & A and discussion. It was filled with personal stories and perspectives full of life lessons about pursuing your dreams and working collaboratively to bring something new into the world.
The students were especially inspired that these men, not that much older than them, were using their talent and determination to make their dreams real.
