TCS Writers Recognized
Once again this year, students from The Community School have had a strong showing in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. Students from our small school represented an impressive 23% of those recognized who attend private and public schools in Baltimore City.
Our congratulations go to junior Destiny Grimes for winning the Silver Key for distinguished works in the Personal Essay and Memoir category for her work “Courage.” Also recognized in the same category for his work “Racial and Ethnic Discrimination” is fellow junior Joshua Sharp.
Recognized in the Science Fiction and Fantasy category is senior Ronan Guilfoyle for his work “Doppelgänger.” Freshman Kevin Brown‘s work “Wild Jewelry” was also recognized in the same category.
Last year, sophomore Ethan Christou was awarded the Inspire Emerging Voices Scholarship for his work “The Senses Dividing” and he was recognized again this year for his short story “The Other Side of Me.”
Each of these writers was nurtured and inspired by writing seminar teacher Don Riesett who has our deepest gratitude.
Congratulations Destiny, Ethan, Joshua, Kevin and Ronan! We are proud of you and your accomplishments!
