A new career option is being considered by several of the students after today’s Conversation with Ryan Dunford.  Mr. Dunford is a special agent with the Supreme Court of the United States Protection Detail.  He informed students about his path from a neighborhood boy in Buffalo, New York to a career that brings him meaning, pride, and adventure. The students were keenly interested and a great conversation was had by all.  Thanks, Ryan.

This week’s broadcast of TCS Student News was researched, written, produced and anchored by Vernon Laumann and Jordan Leon. Stories include the ambush of US soldiers in Nigeria, talks with North Korea, and the new tariffs. They also covered news around The Community School.

The students had a special seminar course in American Sign Language taught by Peggy Lashbrook.  Peggy started the course with an explanation of how she came to learn sign language and her lifetime of work in the deaf community.  The students concentrated on learning the alphabet and 100 common words. All of the students enjoyed the class.  The school is considering American Sign Language to be on the course list next year.

This weeks edition of TCS Student news was researched, written, produced, and anchored by students Caleb Rohe and Donald Lacy. Stories include the dangers of vaping, expanded women’s rights in Saudi Arabia, an update on Boko Haram and the Winter Olympics as well as goings ons around TCS.

The students attended a unique play at Single Carrot Theatre called The Death of Walt Disney. Performed by Paul Diem, Mohammad , Eric Poch, and Meghan Stanton, the play explored the dark side of the late creator of the Disney empire. Student Claude Nicholson said, “I liked it because it showed a deeper view of how business can truly change a man.” Special thanks to Genevieve de May and the folks at Single Carrot for giving us this opportunity.

This week’s news was researched, written, produced and anchored by students Olivia Yates and Aidan McIntosh. Stories include the shootings at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, the additional Mueller indictments, and the continuing war in Syria. TCS news included the school field trip to listen and talk with Alsarah and the Nubatones at the Creative Alliance. Student achievements and gratitude shout-outs were also in this broadcast. Enjoy.
