Conversation with Bria Leigh Yazic

Immigration was on the minds of the students today. Bria Leigh Yazic joined us for our “Conversation with…” series. Ms. Bria is a IJC Justice Fellow in the Chacon Center for Immigrant Justice at the University of Maryland Law School.
The students learned a lot about the law including how immigration law is set by Congress but the immigrant court system is under the Federal Executive Branch and not the Judicial Branch. They had many questions about how the system works as well as what is broken in it. Ms. Bria answered them all thoroughly in a way that a non-lawyer could understand. She also spoke about her personal journey and career. This was followed by a tour of our facility by the students.
It was a very informative conversation and we are very grateful to Ms. Bria for her time with us.
