Conversation with Stevie Walker-Webb

We had a really great “Conversation with…” Stevie Walker-Webb today. He’s the Obie award winning director who directed the play, Our Town, that we saw at Center Stage yesterday. There was a very lively discussion about the play covering everything from how it was put together to details and insights that the students had into it. He also provided a lot of insight into the job of a director and his collaborative style of work.
Mr. Walker-Webb talked candidly about his life growing up in public housing in Waco, Texas to his life in New York City where he is preparing to direct the Broadway production of Ain’t No Mo. He also talked about some of his other projects like the The Ms. Pat Show on B.E.T. He was very generous with his time and the shared conversation became very deep and personal.
Stevie pledged to return to TCS in the spring when he comes back to Baltimore to direct the play Life Is A Dream.
