Financial Commitment & Support

The Community School is an accessible, affordable private high school that provides a high quality, unique education.

What you need to know about the cost of attending TCS:

  • The cost to educate a student at The Community School is $12,000. Without volunteers and donation of in-kind items the true cost is approximately $18,000.
  • The tuition for the 2022/2023 school year is set at $4,800 per student.
  • The Community School provides limited financial subsidies for students on a sliding fee scale based on income to ensure that every student who is willing to commit to his or her studies is able to attend
  • The State of Maryland provides financial subsidies to low income families to attend private schools, including TCS, up to $4,600 a year through the BOOST program
  • In order to maintain a TCS financial subsidy, the student must maintain a grade point average of at least 2.0, have good attendance, and pass every subject.
  • Tuition with subsidy can be as low as $10/week and without subsidy as high as $120/week.
  • Tuition may be paid annually, each trimester, monthly or weekly. It is due the first day of each period, with a late charge if it is not paid on time.
  • Tuition can be paid in cash, by check or money order, or by credit or debit card.
  • There is a one-time registration fee of $50 once a student is accepted and a book deposit of $100 that is refundable once the student leaves the School.
  • The School provides all school supplies needed including notebooks, folders, pens, pencils, etc. The student only needs to provide a book bag.
  • There is no additional charge for field trips, graduation or other typical fees.
  • All students and families are expected to volunteer, help fundraise and donate to continue the educational opportunities for the students.

Thoughts to Consider:

It is important to reflect on the value of a great education. What is the value of being cared for in a safe and comfortable environment that is also challenging and rigorous? Is there a dollar limit on watching your child grow both academically and personally, ready for college, career and adulthood when it’s time to graduate high school?

School is ultimately an investment in your child, both for the present and the future. The payoff extends to the rest of his or her life, in skills, confidence and competence as well as in social and economic opportunities.

“An investment in education always pays the highest returns” – Ben Franklin
