Local Employers Visit School
Getting a job is on most of the students’ minds and plans. Amanda Rothchild, co-owner of Charmington’s coffee shop in Remington, joined Randi Seymur, front end manager at Giant Foods 41st Street location, to speak to the class as part of our monthly Job Readiness Seminar. They generously shared their personal and diverse experience with the students at the invitation of seminar instructors Peggy Lashbrook and George Tilson. The students were full of questions about pay, working conditions, qualifications, openings, job satisfaction and even issues on the job. They learned about the journey Randi and Amanda took to get to their careers. It was a great discussion that gave the students many ideas about weekend work during the school year, summer jobs, and future possibilities. We keep growing the network for the students and school!
